Location:
Located in southern Europe, Italy is a peninsula extending into the Central Mediterranean Sea. It is shaped like a high-heeled boot kicking a "triangle"—the island of Sicily. Italy borders France to the west, Switzerland and Austria to the north, and Slovenia to the east.

How to Reach:
By Air:   When starting a tour of Italy from north to south or vice-versa, there are main Airports like Milan, Venice, Rome with directs or indirects flights, depends of wich Airline you use. Many other cities are well served from all of Europe, and they are also connected with the rest of the world.

By Train:   Italy is well served by Intercity and local trains and there are also high speed train lines serving the main cities.

By Sea:  Traveling by sea is definitely a memorable way to get here. You could reach Italy by cruise line, by ferry to and from the islands or via an european sea network, shortsea shipping.

By Bus:    Routes to Italy run through Austria, France, Slovenia and Switzerland and most routes use the tunnels under the Alps and Apennines. Trenitalia runs regular daily services called auto al seguito (trains carrying cars), especially during the summer holiday season, covering national and international routes. These services operate from special railway stations and are generally bookable at the departure station. Owners must travel on the same train.

Rome:
Rome is the capital of modern Italy. Rome is full of history everywhere you look. It has many ancient monuments, interesting medieval churches, beautiful fountains, museums, and Renaissance palaces. Sardinia:

Turin:

The city of Pompeii:
The buried city of Pompeii has been described as one of the most intriguing archaeological sites on the planet. It all happened long ago in August 24, 79 AD, when Mount Vesuvius volcano erupted so violently that it literally blew its top off. The massive explosion sent huge amounts of volcanic stream, cinders and ash high into the sky, which then showered down on Pompeii completely burying the city.

Today, most of Pompeii's streets and buildings (including temples, theatres, shops etc) have been uncovered. Uncovering Pompeii has given us unique insight into daily Roman life back in 79 AD.
